What is Create?

Today’s world is a world of mass communication. We know everything about everyone, and companies and organizations know everything about us. Despite this, it seems that the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ has slipped off the radar. Create is a ministry that aims to put Christ back on the world agenda through the very modes of communication that clutter and shape our Christless world.

Essentially, a Create meeting is a meeting of encouragement where people get together to brainstorm and plan projects and activities that promote the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ for the furtherance of his Kingdom.

Create is a forum for investigating ways of gospel communication. We need to think about the world that we live in and how it functions. Create seeks to communicate theologically through the mediums of the day. Our world is a place dominated by the visual medium. As such the FEVA ministry is uniquely placed to gather people together for this purpose.

When are Create meetings held?

Create meetings are held every 1st Saturday of the month between 1:30pm - 5:30pm. Make sure to check that a meeting is on before turning up.

Where are Create meetings held?

Create meetings are held at Level 25, Darling Park, 201 Sussex Street, Sydney unless otherwise notified.

Who can be involved with Create?

Bible believing Christians are welcome to Create meetings. However we ask that those involved in Create be wise in who they ask. We don’t want numbers for the sake of numbers. The best person to invite is someone you can imagine ‘fitting in’ in an purposeful, imaginative and constructive way. Needless to say, please don’t ask people who aren’t serious about worshipping Jesus!

A typical Create meeting

Each ‘Create session’ is a think tank or content factory. Whoever turns up is the think tank for that meeting. At this stage there is no membership but there are invitees.

Structure
All meetings need structure and clear direction. Create meetings shall be chaired and have a series of small group and big group segments. A lot of the time will be spent ‘brainstorming’. The fruits of a brainstorming session can be vetted and streamlined from small to big groups.

Jesus centred
Like all Christian ministries Create needs the Bible to be at the centre so that Jesus is at the centre. Each meeting will begin with prayer and a small devotion from the scriptures.

Ideas …
The power and value of an idea is extraordinary. Satan with a lie undid the human race. Similarly with the power of the gospel and the power of it’s truth conveyed clearly, sharply, appropriately, Christians can present the hope of Jesus to the world in the confidence that God’s word will not return empty to him (Is 55).

Take time
People should have clear expectations about Create meetings so that they don't walk away feeling frustrated. For example, they need to hear regularly that the majority of the 'doing' will happen 'off site'. Most really good ‘doing time’ is spent individually. So how do we spend four hours?? Talking, having fun, watching, playing

Chewing the fat
A lot of critical preplanning comes in simply getting to know people sharpening one another (Proverbs 27:17). Create is the Christian Creatives ‘Cigar club’. We sit around and talk a lot and enjoy each other’s company and fellowship. Underneath, however, there is a driving purpose: to unleash creative focus in gospel pursuits.

How does create work from project to project?

Feedback
The involvement that Create has with projects will be up to those involved in projects. However, if those in Create have influence and input then they will certainly appreciate hearing first hand about any progress especially if the project is carried on to successful completion.

The Creative process
Create will explore ‘The Creative process’. It will seek to help its members work with ideas successfully so that projects are accomplished with flair, excellence and a sharpness that makes that relevant.

From Ideation to project
Create will regularly discuss project organization methodology and technologies so that the bridge between ideation and outcome is made.

Ownership
Create would rather individuals and sub-groups involved in Create take responsibility for and answer for the projects they work on. Projects won’t bear the name of FEVA or CREATE. Create is simply a place for people wanting to undertake projects to get encouragement, advice/criticism, collaborators etc.
